IT Connections presentation - Kimberly South from University Technology Services

[Meeting Q&A on this presentation]

Q. Online Demo Available?
A.   No online Demo as yet.
Q. What kind of access do folks have?
A. Everyone can see the minimum.  No security sensitive items will be publicly available.  Network managers will have augmented access.  It will be open to all at some level.
Q. Will this be expanded to include the Outages Listserv?
A. Not at this time but this may occur in the future.  This is a very early time in the process.

Before we go "live" with this, we would like for the Network Managers group to serve as a pilot test group, along with some staff within UTS. I'll have more information in January, but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Training will be conducted - again TBD.

There is also a change management standard being drafted, along with standards and procedures for the IT Connection, that will accompany the new outages system quite well.

We'll be wanting your valuable input and opinions before we officially begin using the new system.

Questions / comments, in the meantime, let me know at Ksouth@gwm.sc.edu .

UTS Change Control presented by Betty Hawkins of UTS

Betty Hawkins presented the UTS change control process at the network managers meeting.
We spent a bit of time talking about outages in general and the salient points were....

Facilities will participate in a limited fashion but will also have their own mechanism for outages.

The distributed IT community will be involved at all levels.

It was agreed that Facilities be approached about the possibility of joining the Outage system.

Lorie Edwards, Deputy CIO, agreed to contact Facilities on this issue.
