The iCARE Center is brought to you by your Student Technology Fee

Welcome to the iCARE Center (Internet Computer And Resource Center). We want you to learn how to CARE for your computer during your session. We can help you connect your computer to the ResNet (residential network) and the USC Wireless Network, along with showing you how to keep your machine updated and secure. iCARE services are available for on and off campus students. Please read over the following procedures and requirements before you register for the iCARE Center.

* REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Students who have not registered for a session will be allowed only if seats are available. They will be assisted on a first-come, first-serve basis. These students will still need to register once they arrive to the iCARE Center.

** Updates and patches will only be installed over a wired connection. Therefore, make sure you have an Ethernet card (most laptops/desktops have one built inside).

How do I check for ethernet card?

The iCARE Center is located at the Computer Services Center, 1244 Blossom (corner of Blossom and Sumter St.). Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time in order to setup your desktop/laptop.

During your session, technicians will be available to assist you with the following procedures to properly clean and configure your desktop/laptop.

  • Installing and configuring software for wired and wireless access (includes CleanAccess and the Cisco VPN client)

  • Configuring your desktop/laptop Firewall settings and Automatic Updates to download and install updates on a regular basis

  • Run a Nessus scan to detect known vulnerabilities
  • Teaching you important information about safe online practices along with ways to protect your PC and identity.
When you come to the iCARE Center, please make sure you bring the following items:
  • A legal copy of your Operating System (this is a CD that normally ships with your desktop/laptop)
  • Your desktop/laptop
    • For desktops: ONLY bring the tower (not the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.)
    • For laptops: Bring the entire machine along with the power cord
  • Ethernet and wireless card
    • Updates and patches will only be installed over a wired connection.
Services NOT provided by the iCARE Center:
