Make sure to do your updates when needed for all of your operating system and applications. And don't forget to protect your system with updated antivirus software to keep viruses, worms and hackers off your computer.

USC Law Enforcement and Safety also has three programs available for students:

1. Register mobile devices with Project I.D.
   
2. Purchase a S.T.O.P. tag which is affixed to the laptop.
   
3. Engrave devices with identifiable information.

Stay Legal
Illegal sharing and downloading of music, movies and software is against the law. USC works with law enforcement to protect copyrighted material.

Computer System Recommendations
The following are the recommended minimum specifications for new computers at the University. Computer performance will be enhanced by increasing processor type and speed, RAM, and hard drive size. See the computer manufacturer or reseller for recommendations:
