University Technology Services, under the direction of the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, provides centralized and distributed computing and telecommunications for academic, research and administrative use to support the University's mission and meet the needs of the faculty, staff and students at the University of South Carolina. University Technology Services provides computing, telecommunications, networking, data security, video transport, information technology training, web services, customer support, desktop and server support, installation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, policies and procedures, PC labs, software licensing and distribution, IT planning, partnerships, applications development and support and operational systems to serve the USC community.

Audiovisual Engineering & Support provides design, installation, and support for all aspects of satellite, streaming media, and closed-circuit television delivery of courses. Maintenance for the statewide viewing systems, campus fiber, and the cable television infrastructure; support for all USC television productions; and technical design for media enhanced classrooms are examples of services. In addition, we offer audio and video recording, editing, and production.

Recommending plans and designs for the expansion of and changes to inter and intra-building connectivity for voice and data within the University campus system ; Establishing standards within the University system for voice and data infrastructure; Designing and implementing approved recommendations and the coordination of University and non-University resources to facilitate the requests of academic and administrative areas relating to communications; Maintaining voice and data communications on the University campus

The IT Service Management group of University Technology Services is a technology-based unit comprehensively providing solutions and support for the University. Media Distribution & Delivery provides support for the delivery of courses and projects using satellite, video on the web, and DVD. This support includes seven classroom studios, master control, resource library, and edit suite. We also support the distribution of information about distance education courses on the web and through printed material.
